Mrs. Shelee McCorkle, a STEAM teacher at Schley County Elementary, has been named a Don Cargill STEM Scholar by the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers, Inc. (GYSTC). This honor recognizes Georgia educators in grades K-8 who inspire curiosity and innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) classrooms.
Established in 2019 during GYSTC's 30th anniversary and named for GYSTC co-founder Don Cargill, the Don Cargill STEM Scholar Award celebrates teachers who create engaging learning environments that prepare students for future opportunities in STEM fields. This year, GYSTC recognized 25 educators statewide with this distinction.
