The Buena Vista City Council appointed longtime officer Sharon Williams as the new Police Chief in a meeting on Tuesday, April 21.
Williams had been serving as interim police chief since the retirement of Chief Wendell Faulk earlier this year.
While it's a new role, she is not new to the community or to the department. She has 28 years of experience in law enforcement. During that time she has served in various roles, from patrol to executive command. She is passionate about neighborhood outreach and restorative justice, as well as committed to implementing modern, data-driven policing strategies.
She is the first female police chief for the City of Buena Vista, which announced her appointment with the message below.
