In Schley County, where the U.S. Census Bureau estimates a tight-knit population of just 4,600 overall and 1,668 in the county seat of Ellaville, everyone knows everyone, and they love to see their kids soar. This summer, that small-town pride reached a deafening roar.
The Schley County Recreation Department celebrated two teams capturing Diamond Youth State Championships: the 8U Softball Team and the 12U Baseball Team. While the softball girls fought their way back to the World Series and finished in an impressive 5th place, the 12U baseball boys etched their names into history by winning the World Series.
