The Webster County Board of Education has released its 2026 tax digest and five-year levy history, proposing a minor decrease in the maintenance and operation (M&O) millage rate for the upcoming tax year.
According to the figures, the school board plans to set the 2026 M&O millage rate at 15.7870 mills, down 0.0060 mills from the 2025 rate of 15.7930.
Despite the slight reduction in the millage rate, local property tax revenue levied by the school system will experience a modest increase due to growth in the overall tax base. The net tax digest value - the total assessed value of taxable property after exemptions - rose from $113,397,103 in 2025 to $115,151,085 in 2026, representing an increase of approximately 1.55% ($1,753,982).
