Chatt Commission to Reduce Property Taxes Significantly

 The Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners will hold a public meeting on Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. at 215 McNaughton Street to officially set the county's millage (property tax) rate. Commissioners plan to significantly reduce the property tax rate thanks to revenue from the Property Tax Relief Floating Local Option Sales Tax.
 The current millage rate is 8.254, but they plan to lower it to 1.709. As a result, property owners will be paying $428,212 less in 2026. That represents a 78.78% decrease (down from a total of $543,563 to $115,351).
