Webster County should be getting faster, more reliable internet service in the future, thanks to a grant.
Webster is one of four South Georgia counties that will receive nearly $15 million total in preliminary grant awards for broadband internet expansion, Gov. Brian Kemp announced last week.
Kinetic Windstream was awarded $985,147 to develop broadband internet access in Webster County. The project is expected to serve 299 locations in the county.
According to Windstream, planning and engineering are underway for the new projects, and residents can expect to see crews working in these areas soon, with a completion date by the end of 2026, the grant deadline.
