Amid a forecast for seventy percent chance of rain with thunderstorms in the mix, the Springtime Ellaville Festival, sponsored by the Ellaville-Schley County Chamber of Commerce, mostly escaped the threat and barely got wet.
Under overcast skies, the event welcomed hundreds (maybe 1,000-plus) of visitors who feasted on the array of food offered by many vendors and delighted in the craft products on sale.
Springtime Ellaville is in a long line of local festivals starting with a Centennial Celebration in 1959. Then, in 1976, an America Birthday Party was held to celebrate 200 years as a nation.
