A tornado tore through a portion of Southern Marion County last week causing significant damage but also showing the benefits of living in a rural area where folks take care of their friends and neighbors.
There were some homes and vehicles damaged by the winds and falling trees but it appears that the bulk of the damage was to "out-buildings" and other similar structures. There were also many downed trees.
Brian and April Moon reported that their neighborhood was hit hard and they felt blessed that their home escaped major damage, especially after examining the landscape all around them. They did have an outside structure destroyed, as well as a tremendous number of trees to clean up.
