The Schley County Commission approved a resolution to potentially boot Sumter County out of the Middle Flint Regional E-911 during its recent meeting.
As previously reported, the Sumter County Commission has sued and is fighting the funding formula used to fund the E-911 Center, which is located in Ellaville and serves eight counties. The fees each county pays are based upon population.
Sumter pays around 33 percent of the cost but has accounted for around 45 percent of emergency calls. That would appear to show that they are getting a good deal. However, Sumter County reportedly wants the cities included in its county to pay more.
