Marion Voters Asked to Pass Property Tax Relief

 The Marion County Commission is asking local voters to approve a new state-approved sales tax to reduce property taxes for homeowners.
 After opting out of the Floating Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST) option in 2025, the Marion County Commission has voted to participate in a new sales tax option recently approved by the Georgia General Assembly. It's called the Local Homestead Option Sales Tax (LHOST) - but it must also be approved by local voters.
 The Commission voted in a meeting on June 9 for the LHOST option to go before voters as a referendum on the ballot in the November election.
