Marion Hires New CPA after Years of Late Audits

 The Marion County Commission has made a switch with the handling of its annual audit.
 The commissioners recently voted for David Benfield, CPA, to handle the county government's 2025 audit with the approval of a $50,000 contract.
 Benfield recently helped the county get its audits up to date after the audits for years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 were all late. As recently reported, the 2024 delinquent audit had the Marion County Commission temporarily on a list of nine Georgia counties that were ineligible for state grant funds. That has since been rectified.
