There are two major electrical infrastructure projects currently developing in Marion County. One involves new power lines and a substation and the other is the Heart Pine Solar Project.
Power Lines: Georgia Power is currently negotiating with local landowners to acquire land for the Farley-Tazewell Line, which will serve a new substation named the "Big Tazewell Substation." This is a long-term project projected to be completed around 2030.
The legal notice for the project noted that eminent domain - the government's power to take property for public use, with compensation provided - may be exercised.
