New High School Opens in Buena Vista

The historic brick school building on Burkhalter Avenue in Buena Vista - which already serves the community by housing the Marion County Commission Office and local government services - is opening its doors to a brand-new educational era.
Southern Rivers High School has officially opened its doors at 100 Burkhalter Avenue as Georgia's newest "completion high school." Designed as a nontraditional public institution, Southern Rivers provides a flexible path toward a high school diploma for students ages 14 to 21 who were previously enrolled as ninth graders in other districts, as well as homeschooled students.
