Buena Vista Mayor Kevin Brown recently announced the beginning of a long anticipated Downtown Renovation Project financed by $2 million from the River Valley Regional Transportation Special Purpose Sales Tax (T-SPLOST).
Residents can expect some inconveniences but the mayor assures the public that it will be well worth it once the "growing pains" are over.
For many residences, including longtime local leader Debby Ford, the coming hum of heavy machinery will be a sweet sound. Her mind will likely drift back more than a decade when such a project was just a dream. As the long-time Chamber of Commerce President, she had spent a decade pushing for a vision like this.
