Under the Friday night lights of Eagle Stadium, the Marion County High School football team opened its season in a hard-fought contest against Hawkinsville, the No. 10 ranked team in Class A, last Friday, falling 25-6. Despite the tough loss, the Eagles displayed heart, physical defense, and flashes of big-play potential.
The game started with an explosive moment for the home crowd. On Hawkinsville's very first offensive play, Marion County's Kay Kelley snagged an interception, setting the Eagles up at midfield.
